Memorial Day Weekend Bed Drive for St. Joseph’s House

This Memorial Day Weekend, the Kit & Jerry’s Foundation for Good is partnering with local communities to fully fund the immediate needs of St. Joseph’s House in Hyannis.

The initiative is inspired by a notebook found in Jerry Boucher’s truck the day after the accident, which detailed plans to raise money for beds at the shelter.

The Need at St. Joseph's House

St. Joseph’s House serves Cape Cod residents—including a significant population of senior citizens—who are without housing due to the regional housing shortage. Many shelter guests are employed but priced out of the Cape’s expensive housing market.

The shelter is currently transitioning to a new facility designed to offer a safer, more dignified environment and expanded resources to help guests transition into long-term housing.

Why these Beds Matter

The specific beds required for the new facility are commercial-grade, safe, and highly functional. They feature:

  • Built-in stairs: Ensuring older guests and those with mobility challenges can safely access top bunks.

  • Integrated storage drawers: Providing guests with a secure, private place to keep their personal belongings.

A Community Partnership

In collaboration with the Social Justice Mission from St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans—where Kit and Jerry were long-time parishioners— and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Wellfleet, our goal is to fully fund this equipment requirement over the course of a single weekend.

We invite you to join us in meeting this critical need for the Cape Cod community.
